Why Pangolin

Tree pangolin (Manus tricuspis)

Because the pangolin is a most unusual creature, which has scales although it is a mammal, protects its vulnerable young by curling around them, and is considered very lucky in East Africa.

In KiSwahili its name is kakakuona - the brother who sees - it was thought that seeing the difficulties around dementia where most people don't expect to find them might qualify us as "brothers (and sisters) who see"!
